● Emergency breakaway coupling has the following two functions:
(1) A specific disconnection mechanism for disconnecting the pipeline between the mobile unit and the loading system within the allowable loading range.
(2) An instantaneous self-closing device for sealing the broken cross section to prevent the product from leakage.
● Release method
(1) Shear bolts type
It can protect hoses and pipelines from damage caused by overload tension. The breakaway coupling is triggered by three stainless steel shear bolts that divide the circumference equally on the parting surface. When the breakaway coupling is released, the valve in the two halves of the coupling body automatically close quickly. The design pressure of shear bolt type breakaway coupling is generally below 2.5 MPa. The shear bolts need to be replaced when resetting.
● Wire rope release type
It can protect hoses and pipelines from damage caused by overload tension. The breakaway coupling is triggered by pulling the clamp unlocking mechanism through the wire rope. When the breakaway coupling is released, the valve in the two halves of the coupling body automatically close quickly. Only the copper pins needs to be replaced when resetting.
